Pupusa fundraiser benefits affordable homeownership
Portland, OR — The Gutiérrez family made a total of 523 pupusas and raised nearly $1,000 on Sept. 23 to benefit Proud Ground, a Portland nonprofit organization that helps families buy their first home affordably. Edward Gutiérrez, Proud Ground’s Community Outreach Coordinator, his mother and aunt, all of whom are from El Salvador, set up a grill in the organization’s conference room.
