The Dougy Center for Grieving Children & Families in Portland, Oregon is hiring a Director of Development & Communications. Full time position, excellent benefits, SE Portland location. The Director of Development & Communications plans, implements, and coordinates fundraising, marketing, and communication efforts to meet the objectives of The Dougy Center, in cooperation with the Board of Directors and the Executive Director. Primary focus on building major gifts program by creating and maintaining major individual, corporate, and foundation donor relationships. Develop and implement a plan to acquire new donors and upgrade existing donors in the context of major and planned giving. Maintain and expand support from donors through oversight of fundraising events, annual campaign, special appeals, and stewardship. As a member of The Dougy Center management team, work to create and implement strategic organizational plans in coordination with all departments.
Must have a minimum of 5+ years of documented experience and success in nonprofit development, appropriate education/training related to successful execution of tasks, experience with donor databases, excellent oral, written and organizational skills, and extremely detail-oriented while grasping the overall goals and “self-starting.” Sound knowledge and demonstrated background in donor relations and solicitation. Thorough understanding of nonprofit management and procedures with a proven track record of successful team leadership and collaboration.
